Winter Activities Around Once Upon a Time

Where to ski, or ski resorts in the vicinity

The Krkonoše Mountains are dotted with ski resorts. Each valley usually has one large ski resort, which attracts a lot of people. However, as you drive through the countryside to that large ski resort, you see many ski lifts along the way that belong to smaller resorts. These are often T-bars or platter lifts, but even small resorts are trying to keep up with the times and modernize, and you can even find chairlifts in some places. For us, it’s Skiareál Aldrov. Around us there are a total of 3 smaller ski resorts and 10 minutes from us is the largest Czech one – Skiareál Špindlerův Mlýn!

We will gradually introduce all of them:

Aldrov – Freestyle Area

  • 26 by car or 600 m on foot | ROUTE (directly under the lift)
  • 1 free parking lot
  • 1 anchor lift, 1 snow park
  • 1 red and black slope
  • 1 ski school Aldrov Snowsport School
  • 1 rental shop 800m away Ski Klemš
  • 1 Pizzeria u Kouzelníka (open very “punk”)

The snow park is one of the largest in Central Europe. Snowboard competitions and races are often held here. And there is something to see!

Freestyle Area belongs to the Aldrov Ski Area, so a pass purchased for the Presidential Express is also valid for the Jizerka lift and vice versa.

At the same time, the Jizerka lift is “a way to get” to the Presidential Express from us. Recommended for older children, as it is a 400m uphill walk back to Jizerka from the Express.

Ski Schools in the Area

Sorted according to our preferences:

Family Park Horní Mísečky

  • 10 minutes from Bylo Nebylo ROUTE
  • 1 parking lot – free for Family Park clients
  • 1 beginner belt, 1 poma lift for advanced skiers
  • 1 fun park for children
  • 1 equipment rental shop
  • 1 buffet, 1 chill out zone for parents

We like the separation from other skiers the most. It is a slope for beginners and intermediate skiers, and you don’t have to worry about your children being knocked down. It is a small area in itself and has everything that families with children – beginners – need. More advanced children are taken to the Špindlerův Mlýn slopes by instructors from this school. In our opinion, the price-quality-facilities ratio is definitely the best in the entire Krkonoše Mountains.
